Week #3: Negotiation [ shopping lvl. 2]
During Negotiation Week:
-You study and translate useful negotiation phrases.
-You work with a partner to make a situation about "negotiating", then role-play
-We watch the news story about the man who traded a paperclip for a house
-Trading Game. Everyone bring to school 5 items to trade with classmates and teacher. Everyone must use only
english and "negotiate."
-We also made a T-Shirt using Craypus, and watched the movie "Micky and the Beanstalk"
What students learned:
The premise of the week is based on the real life situation that people will have conflicting interests, and will have to "negotiate" to get what they want. For example, Ray wants to go eat, but Jenny wants to go swimming. Now they have to negotiate.
Here are some useful expressions we practiced.
Let's eat hamburgers.
But I don't like hamburgers?
How about chicken?
But chicken is expensive.
If you eat chicken, I will cook for you.
Okay, fine.
Let's watch a scary movie
But I don't like scary movies?
How about a drama?
But I saw a drama movie yesterday.
If you watch a movie with me, I will buy the tickets.
Okay, fine.
